The Vesak programmes of the Buddhist Congress are officially released.

The Vesak Volume and the official logo of the All Ceylon Buddhist Congress was brought out today (19.05.2024) at Temple Trees under the patronage of Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena.

The presentation of credentials with the honorary title of ’Agga Maha Panditha’ awarded by the State of Burma to Ven. Gurudev Sri Sri Ravishanker, founder of Art of Living Foundation held a discussion with Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena at the Temple Trees today (May 18).

The Gurudev said his foundation plans to set up free educational centers in Sri Lanka for skills development of youths. He also expressed interest in establishing an Ayurvedic research institution. The foundation has established two orphanage in Batticaloa and Wellawaya.

Age old Thai-Sri Lanka Buddhist ties has reached a new high - Prime Minister...

Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena said with the introduction of ordination of a large group of Thai Buddhists as Buddhist monks on Vesak Full Moon day next week, adding that the religious ties that existed for centuries will reach a new high. He said this when Thai Ambassador Paitoon Mahapannaporn called on him at the Temple Trees in Colombo on May 17.

The Prime Minister extended his good wishes to Thai Prime Minister and the newly appointed Foreign Minister at this meeting. He reiterated the long-standing and cordial ties between the two countries, which were bounded by Buddhist affinity.

The ’45 Under 45’ Entrepreneurship Excellence Awards Ceremony was held on 16.05.2024 at the Galle Face Hotel, Colombo under the patronage of Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena.

The aim of the award ceremony was to further encourage talented young entrepreneurs who have achieved successful results in a short period of time by adopting innovative methods.

Awards were presented to 56 young executive officers and entrepreneurs.

Utilize Galle, Kurunegala Technology Park buildings for a useful purposes - The National Operations Room advises the Ministry of Investment Promotion

It has been advised to the Ministry of Investment Promotion in the National Operations Room discussions to prepare a plan to make proper use of the buildings constructed in the Technology Parks by the Techno Park Company in Kurunegala and Galle Districts.

The problems of the development projects and the methods of expediting those projects were discussed by the National Operation Room headed by the Secretary to the Prime Minister Anura Dissanayake.

Prime Minister calls for increasing economic and religious ties with Myanmar…

Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena said there is huge potential for further increasing trade, economic and Buddhist ties between Myanmar and Sri Lanka.

He said this when Myanmar Charge d’ Affairs Lei Yi Win called on him at the Temple Trees today (May 16).

The Prime Minister said that economic and trade relations in many areas such as gem and jewellery, tea and coconut trade, minerals, tourism with especial emphasis on Buddhist tourism could be strengthened. He also suggested barter trade on tea and coconut as Myanmar is keen to export coconut to Sri Lanka for processing and re-exporting to third countries.

A special discussion was held at the Parliament Complex on 09.05.2024 to solve the serious health problem that has arisen by dumping of the waste collected in the Beruwala Municipal Council area in a land in Vattimirajapura village.
