Role of National Counseling Center Forming a legal framework for counseling services. Setting standards for counseling services. Capacity building for human resources for counseling services. Co-ordination of other government and non government institutions which provide counseling services. (National Counseling Day – 15th October) Establishing Counseling Centers to provide for the counseling needs of the community. Increasing the attendance of clients at counseling centers by educating government officers, community leaders, students, teachers and parents about counseling and psychotherapy. Conducting traumatic counseling clinics in areas where natural and manmade disasters occurred. Issuing publications to make the community aware of counseling and psychotherapy. Conducting Preventive & developmental counseling programmes to minimize psychosocial problems. Training Volunteers, active listeners and psychosocial workers. Conducting short term training and awareness programs on counseling. Conducting attitude development programs to maximize productivity and efficiency in government institutes. Providing the services of trained counselors for government institutes and NGOs which are in need of such services.( prisons, hospitals, children’s homes, elders’ homes).
