Mackwoods reaffirmed its long term commitment to the plantation industry when it acquired the controlling interest of Agalawatte Plantations Ltd. in December, 1995 under the plantation privatization programme.
Agalawatte Plantations Ltd., was formed in 1992 as a fully State - Owned Plantation Company and has been managed by Mackwoods Plantations (Pvt) Ltd., from its inception. The Company is a public quoted company listed in the Colombo Stock Exchange and comprises 17 Tea and Rubber estates in the planting districts of Nuwara Eliya, Ratnapura and Kalutara. The total extent consists of approx, 3 Million Kgs of Tea & 4 Million Kgs of Rubber per annum.
Mackwoods Teas" produced and packed by Agalawatte Plantaitons Ltd., are sought after by discerning consumers all over the world who look for premium quality Garden Fresh Teas and are marketed in bulk and value added forms which include loose Tea Cartons, Tea Bags and a variety of gift packs and flavoured Teas.
The Company is also one of the largest producers of Crepe Rubber in the county, while premium grade role crepe, specialized Rubbers such as DPNR and coloured sole crepe are also manufactured.
The Company is committed to complement its plantation business by diversifying into down stream and other projects with a view to optimising its resource baseand improving the returns to all its stake holders.
