Truly exquisite hotel with excellent facilities and the most helpful and friendly staff. The rooms were in excellent condition with lovely views. The pool was heated and superbly maintained. All areas of the hotel were immaculate and pristine. Staff were incredibly helpful, for example, making separate dishes at the buffet to cater for allergies. They were always on standby to anticipate our needs, for example, asking if the children would like a ball to play with in the pool. The spa was calming and a great place to relax and unwind. The facilities were extensive and had something for everyone. This truly was a gem of a hotel.

The reservation was confirmed by bookings.com and when I called them, they also confirmed it and sent me the location too. ( proof available).
But on arrival, I was informed by the reception that the bookings were full and that my reservation could not be accepted.
Yes they said sorry for the mistake, but it took me many kilometres and my valuable time to go to the hotel and get it informed. Totally dissapointed.

The location was great. Very calm and quiet place, but located on the roadside. Easily accessible using public transport.
The bed was comfy.
The caretaker was very attentive. Provided hot water to drink. Prepared and served tea whenever I asked. Though they don't serve meals, he bought dinner for me from a nearby place.

We were told to treat the magnificent bungalow as our own home as we arrived and had a drink in the wonderful colonial drawing room. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The food was absolutely amazing, the afternoon tea was the best I have had in my life.
We loved the walk around the tea plantations and swimming in the infinity pool

There is nothing to do in Hatton, the city itself is not very interesting. However you can take the scenic train route from Kandy to Hatton and then join the tea plantation tours and hikes and afternoon teas.
Many leeches so beware.
Way colder in temperatue than Minneriya, Dambula, Kandy etc.

Hatton is a scenic and beautiful town in the mountains.
Hatton is a scenic and beautiful town in the mountains. Gorgeous sceneries anywhere you look. The town has plenty of shops and banks. Pretty convenient to get everything you need. The hotels are run a bit differently to Colombo and Kandy. Not sure how to explain, but things are bit slower. It is great to hike there and search for waterfalls and the nature and beauty is unending. Lovely local people, friendly and kind. The temperature is seriously pleasant without the humidity. Even the tea plants love it.

lovely area - i would have liked to stay longer and do Adam's Peak . I enjoyed walking through the tea plantations and seeing the factory - and there were other hikes to do that we didn't have the time to do. Also, it is not too far from Kitulgala which is also a great place to go. we rafted there and loved it - and there is also a lovely rain forest there that we did not have the time to explore.

The Hatton area is the centre of Sri Lanka's tea industry and has a cool moderate climate. The area around Hatton and especially Castlereigh Lake is spectacular, with beautiful tea plantations waterfalls and stunning vistas. It is at an elevation of 3,000 meters so pack warm clothes as well as t-shirts as the weather is changeable. As a result of decades of British colonialism the region is dotted with fantastic Bungalows and the locals will speak English. If you can, try and arrive via train (use the second class tickets, first class is aircon and too cold with non-opening windows) from either Kandy or Nanu-Oya (Nuwara Eliya) its one of the most scenic train journeys in the world.

Hatton is the gateway to Sri Paada pilgrimage for the travellers from Colombo or specially the tourists. The town is small, packed but friendly and could have been lot more planned, cleaned and visitor friendly.
I had an incredible stay at the Top View Hotel. I was welcomed with open arms and treated like family. The meals are the best in all Sri Lanka, the room pleasant and very clean and the view magnificent. The hotel manager helped me organize my stay and negotiate the tuk tuk prices which were very reasonable. She’s full of ideas and little touches to make your stay comfortable! The hotel is located in the heights of Hatton, quiet, but is only 10 minutes walk from the center.
Thank you again, I hope to see you again!
The accommodation was beter than we could wish for.
We are backpackers, on a budget, we stayed here to go the next day to Adam’s peak. We took the big room with the mezzanine and it was just what we needed!
The host was very friendly, they even arrange free transportation to the hotel if needed. The staff were very friendly, even tho we are not the easiest to please.
The room was a bit cold, but on demand you can receive a heater.
And above all that, the room was not overpriced!
One of the best locations in Sri Lanka, nestled among tea plantations. A beautiful place for nature lovers. Staff was very friendly and hospitable. They made our stay one of the most memorable ones. Very delicious home cooked breakfast and dinner! Thank you Rimas, Priyan, and other supporting staff!
Rimas is familiar with Hatton and its surrounding places and he guided us to tea plantations and shared his valuable information about culture and heritage.
we loved the rock view Rest Hatton. the lovely owner Rawi and his wife are very friendly and try to make everything possible (buying train tickets, driving you to the station for free, etc). the location is situated perfectly at a small river where you can take a sunbath on the rock or refresh yourself. The best experience has been the private tour with Rawi, he showed us the most beautiful waterfall in Sri Lanka!
Insanely superb views by the lake and mountains. Loved the Kayaking, the food and the hospitality esp Justin who was super friendly and of service. Great to meet the Manager heading the resort, very humble and cordial. Rooms were also very classy with some great views of the reservoir on one side and the tea gardens on the other side. They also had the option to cycle around the resort.
The owner was very nice. Hot shower working well. Room with comfortable bed. What I liked the most was the shared balcony. Very pleasant to sit and have a cup of tea and watch the world go by.
Hatton is a small but a vibrant town with many nice restaurants. Streets towards the bus station are full of local vibes. People are nice. I recommend to stop here between Ella and Kandy.
The staff were super friendly and very accommodating. The Barman in Nessies bar was especially good as was chef Suresh who went out of his way to explain dishes due to our allergies and also showed us how to make a traditional Kottu (which was delicious).
Impressive welcome and departure process and a lovely clean hotel with comfortable rooms.
Communication was good and hotel even offered free transport from Hatton Station but we came from Kotagala, hence not taken the offer. Staff, especially Kiruban (apologies if misspelled), was very helpful and service was excellent.
Location and facilities were good. There was a nice balcony with a view of tea estates.
The hotel is so spacious with so many amenities. The food is delicious and they always give you a lot of food. The staff is so helpful. The surrounding area is just jaw-droppingly beautiful! The prices are a little higher than some area hotels but with all the amenities and meals included it was very worth it!
The hospitality was great. Appreciate all services provided by the property. The Manager /Caretaker was a very good person who made our stay very comfort and safe. The tea provided was awsome and up to hotel standard. I stayed with my daughter one night.
Hope to come again with my whole family.
One of the greates Srí Lanka experience our family had.Perfect servise, very friendly staff and excellent meels. We also use airport transfer servise with the best driver.Thank you Very much Hotel Mount Castle managers. Would definitely reccoment and would love to come again.
Pretty nice apartment in walking distance to centre of Hatton. Very well equipped and clean rooms. Two bathrooms available.
The owner was lovely and super friendly. He organized a transport for us last minute when our pre booked transport was cancelled.
Beautiful little place with a nice view. Small outdoor area to chill. Comfortable cozzy indoors. Bathrooms were very nice.. Friendly host, food was amazing😍😍😍 Would definitely go again. Hospitable environment.
Staff (especially Daya & Laxman) were excellent in attending to our needs, rooms were very big as well as the bathroom, food was good, location was nice- surrounded by tea plantations, etc.
centerally located in Hatton, very near the train station. We are the only people there and it felt like we stay in a private holiday home. Owner is very friendly and respectful.
