Vehicles for ministers begin arriving at the Hambantota Port

Despite the Prime Minister’s directive to postpone the importation of vehicles for Ministers, Deputy Ministers and state Ministers for at least three months, Super luxury vehicles ordered by the Treasury for Ministers, Deputy Ministers and state Ministers are arriving at the Hambantota Port, official sources revealed.

Two vehicles imported for Minister of Foreign Employment Thalatha Athukorala and Deputy Minister Nimal Lanza have already been unloaded at Hambantota Port , a port official confirmed.
The Treasury has already placed orders to import 32 vehicles for Ministers, Deputy Ministers and State Ministers through several vehicle franchise dealers in the country; he said adding that there was no possibility for postponing the importation of those vehicles.
The government recently presented a supplementary estimate seeking parliamentary approval for purchasing 32 brand new cars at a cost of Rs. 1.18 billion for the use of 30 Ministers, State Ministers and Deputy Ministers.
