The Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of the Wellampitiya Police has reportedly lodged a complaint at the Judicial Services Commission over the release of nine persons who were employed at a copper factory belonging to an Easter Sunday suicide bomber.

In his complaint, the OIC had alleged that the suspects were released on bail by court despite objections being raised by the Police both verbally and in writing during a court hearing.

The police officer claimed that he along with his co-officers are now being investigated by the Police Headquarters as a result of the Colombo Magistrate Court's decision to dismiss the objections of the Police on enlarging the suspects on bail.

The Wellampitiya Police OIC, in his complaint, also pointed out that court was informed that these suspects who were employed at the copper factory owned by suicide bomber M.I Inshaf Ahamed, were aware of the April 21 Easter Sunday attacks.

Accordingly, he urged that an impartial inquiry be conducted by the Judicial Services Commission into the incident.
