Sri Lanka suffer major injury scare

HOBART, Thursday: Sri Lanka suffered a major injury scare on the eve of their Test series with Australia, with in-form batsman Kusal Mendis’ participation in the two-match series under a cloud.

HOBART, Wednesday: Dinesh Chandimal, the Sri Lanka captain, has called on his batsmen to dig deep and post first-innings totals over 300 to give the bowlers a chance of repeating the success India enjoyed in their historic series victory.

Sri Lanka ‘A’ had a fight on their hands to save the second and final 4-day unofficial test and win the series when they were forced to follow-on by Ireland ‘A’ on the third day at the Mahinda Rajapaksa Stadium Hambantota yesterday.
