The Central Bank of Sri Lanka announced that headline inflation, as measured by the year-on-year (Y-o-Y) change in the Colombo Consumer Price Index, entered negative territory in September 2024. This marks the first instance of deflation since September 2015, with a recorded deflation rate of 0.5%.

Accoringly, the price of Petrol 92 Octane has been reduced by Rs. 21 to Rs. 311 per litre, while Auto Diesel has been reduced by Rs. 24 to Rs. 283 per litre.

Medical and Civil Rights Professional Association President Dr. Chamara Sanjeewa, has filed a complaint with the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) regarding yet another stock of alleged low-quality human immunoglobulin vials imported from India.

Sri Lanka has requested a four-month stay of proceedings in the ongoing case with Hamilton Reserve Bank Ltd. in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York.
