The Central Bank of Sri Lanka announced that headline inflation, as measured by the year-on-year (Y-o-Y) change in the Colombo Consumer Price Index, entered negative territory in September 2024. This marks the first instance of deflation since September 2015, with a recorded deflation rate of 0.5%.

Accoringly, the price of Petrol 92 Octane has been reduced by Rs. 21 to Rs. 311 per litre, while Auto Diesel has been reduced by Rs. 24 to Rs. 283 per litre.
