Cabinet paper submitted to reduce price of Muriate of Potash by 50% Featured

A Cabinet paper has been submitted to reduce the price of Muriate of Potash (MoP) fertilizer by another 50 percent, Agriculture and Plantation Industries Minister Mahinda Amaraweera said.

While starting the development of the Omara village in Walasmulla as a second-stage agribusiness village yesterday (05), he said the Cabinet paper will be approved by President Ranil Wickremesinghe.

At present, public sector fertilizer companies have 28,600 metric tons of MOP fertilizer in stock, the Minister said.

Meanwhile, the Government-owned Fertilizer Company Chairman Dr. Jagath Perera said the price of MOP fertilizer can be reduced by 50 percent.
