During the special press briefing convened on Tuesday morning (March 26) to present the second Monetary Policy Review of 2024, CBSL’s Economic Research Director Dr. S. Jegajeevan revealed that workers’ remittances were recorded at USD 964 million from January to February.
Meanwhile, tourism earnings were recorded at USD 687 million during these months.According to CBSL’s figures, both workers’ remittances and tourism earnings have seen a significant improvement last year as opposed to 2022.
Workers’ remittances increased from USD 3.8 billion in 2022 to USD 6 billion in 2023 while tourism earnings went up from USD 1.1 billion in 2022 to USD 2.1 billion in 2023.
