Whistleblower alleges canned fish unfit for human consumption being sold through Sathosa Featured

Former Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) Executive Director Thushan Gunawardena 29th of April alleged that the Ministry of Trade has informed the Lanka Sathosa to sell canned fish unfit for human consumption through its outlets in 2021.

Gunawardena shared an email sent to State-owned Sathosa outlets in July 2021 directing them to sell canned fish banned by the Ports Authority.

"A cabinet decision has been taken to sell stock of canned fish banned by the Ports Authority through the Lanka Sathosa outlet network," according to the document he published on Twitter.

“How Sathosa sold canned fish UNFIT for consumption by white labeling with Sathosa Brand. At the time CAA intervened to stop the sale but the Trade Ministry wanted to go ahead with it. This is state sponsored murder. Sathosa is littered with substandard products,” he Tweeted.

Not only this item and many times have to be checked and see if they are good enough for human consumption..but what happens is that those who complain about it don't do their jobs professionally...look how many containers wait in Harbour for clearance and how many containers wait in warehouses in many months and all these delays make these good items unfit for Human consumption? Here no point in blaming the cabinet or any minister rather it is ok our working culture ...Till the judiciary put some of these officials behind the bar for their professional negligence this Will continue.. likewise many loopholes in other departments too
