People in the Kiul Ara Divisional Secretariat in Thanamalvila blamed the politicians for not fulfilling their promises, as a result of which their lands are now in danger. There are about eight parliamentarians representing the Monaragala District (government and opposition), and people allege that these politicians have not engaged in any development activities in their villages except selling their lands to businessmen from Colombo.
