This daring raid comes after Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena’s announcement of Sri Lanka government’s willingness to settle the longstanding fishing dispute between India and the island nation.

Iy will be issuing licenses to allow Indian fishermen to carryout fishing in northern territorial waters.

The apprehension has been carried out in special operations conducted by the North Central Naval Command and Northern Naval Command, after having spotted they were engaging in illegal fishing in Sri Lankan waters.
