Sri Lanka Police launch new data system to crack down on drug trafficking Featured

Sri Lanka Police have implemented a specialized data system, encompassing all police stations across the island, with the aim of streamlining the process of identifying criminals arrested over drug-related activities.

Accordingly, this data system enables all police stations to input the details of any such individual immediately following their arrest and retrieve any existing criminal records.

Currently, the data system has been updated with information on individuals arrested in connection with drug-related offenses, the Police Media Division reported.

The official launch of this data system took place at the Police Headquarters on Thursday (14 Dec.), during a workshop organized for Provincial Senior Deputy Inspector Generals of Police (SDIG), DIGs, and Senior Superintendents of Police (SSP) in charge of divisions, focusing on forthcoming special drug-related operations.

The launch took place under the patronage of Public Security Minister Tiran Alles and Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP) Deshabandu Tennakoon.
