Sri Lanka and Thailand eye visa free travel Featured

Sri Lanka and Thailand are considering visa free travel to strengthen economic links between the two countries President Ranil Wickremesinghe said, after signing a free trade with the South East Asian nation.

“In order to facilitate travel between the two countries, we have agreed to consider entering into an agreement for a visa free travel arrangement on reciprocal basis,” President Ranil Wickremesinghe said after bilateral talks with a delegation led by Thai Prime Minister.

“Our officials will work towards finalizing this arrangement early.”Sri Lanka already has a free trade agreement with Singapore, also a key member of the Association of South East Asian Nations”, he added. .

The two countries has had visa free travel before the FTA was inked. People of the ASEAN region can travel within the countries without visa. Most airports in member countries has a special track for ASEAN passport holders
