According to a statement, the probe is spearheaded by the Sri Lanka Computer Emergency Readiness Team (SLCERT) and the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL).

The Education Ministry also expressed regret over the inconvenience caused to users and assured that efforts are underway to swiftly restore the integrity of the official website.

The breach saw the intrusion of a hacker operating under the pseudonym "Anonymous EEE," who left behind a message apologizing for the unauthorized access while shedding light on security vulnerabilities within the system.
