A final year student of the Vavuniya faculty of the Jaffna University Disanayaka Mudiyanselage Hasan Sagara Dissanayake had appeared for the degree examination in Applied Maths and Computer Science before he died in a motorcycle accident in Medawachchiya area.

She broke into tears and stepped onto the stage to receive her son’s degree certificate when Vice Chancellor Prof. Sri Sathgunarajah invited her to come and receive it. Chancellor C. Pathmanathan presided over the convocation. The fellow students of Hasan Sagara helped her back to the audience after receiving the certificate.
