Sri Lanka electronic waste collection gets underway collecting over 7,700kg Featured

The Central Environment Authority (CEA) says that the electronic waste collection initiatives conducted in 11 districts have led to the collection of more than 7,700 kg of electronic waste.

CEA’s Acting Deputy Director General, Chathura Malwana stated that necessary steps have been taken to direct the relevant electronic waste to the recycling process.

According to the CEA, their electronic waste collection initiatives, conducted across 97 centres in 11 districts covering 4 provinces on June 03 and 04, coinciding with the World Environment Day, have successfully collected approximately 7,777 kg of electronic waste despite challenges such as adverse weather.

Parallel to the World Environment Day, the Central Environmental Authority organized E- Waste Collection programs on 3rd and 4th June 2024 in selected 97 centres representing four provinces.

The collected E- waste will be handed over to the E- waste recyclers registered under the CEA such as Clean Tech Company for further process
