Arachchikattuwa is located in the North Western Province of Sri Lanka which belongs to the Puttalam district. Under the Arachchikattuwa Divisional Secretariat Division there are 33 Grama Niladhari Divisions and 129 villages ,the extent of the area is 157.8 sq.kms The history of Arachchikattuwa goes back to around year 1200 AD. The early river vally civilization was established around Daduru Oya and spread to the close by water resources such as Rathambala Oya and Sengal Oya. When we look to the deeper history of the place chronicles shows its connection to the king Prakramabahu era ,both Sinhalese and Tamil communities were established since the early time. Livelihoods are mainly based on an agricultural living pattern, Animal husbandry and fisheries industry.
