The Railway Authority has informed the Railways General Manager that 84 engine drivers will be participating in trade union action today (13).
As a result, the department has taken measures to minimize the disruption caused by the strike. Therefore, they have added an additional 40 office train services to the existing fleet to ensure that commuters have alternative transport options during this time.
To accommodate the needs of the public, the department has made specific arrangements for different railway lines.
There will be 15 train services operated on the main line to reach Colombo Fort, four train services on the Puttalam line, four on the Kelani Valley line, and 17 on the coastal line.
These services have been assigned strategically to ensure convenience for commuters across various routes.
In addition to the additional train services, the department has made special arrangements for commuters travelling to office using nightmail trains, which will be operating to Colombo Fort from distant areas.
While assigning additional train services, the department aims to cater to the needs of working professionals and provide them with a convenient mode of transport.
